Former IAS Officer & Second in Command of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) V Karthikeyan Pandian Quits Politics.
The big breaking comes with his video message apologizing to the Biju Parivar for BJD’s debacle in Election 2024.
“I’m sorry,” says Pandian with folded hands, while announcing his untimely departure from active politics.
During the heat of election campaign Mr. Pandian had thrown the challenge to BJP, especially to senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan saying that if Naveen Patnaik would not be the CM for the 6th time he (Pandian) would quit politics.
Pandian became the prey to his own words as BJD failed to achieve the magic number in the state assembly and faced a miserable defeat from BJP by not able to retain a single seat in the Lok Sabha.
VK Pandian’s announcement breaks his silence after almost a week from the counting as all eyes were on him, looking for an answer to the political cyclone in the 27 years history of the party.
in the post-result scenario, BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik had clarified that VKP isn’t his political successor and the people of Odisha would define the same. Moreover, Naveen along with his senior party leaders have also been trying to tell the world that in the recent years Naveen Babu was the helm of affairs in the party so it was not VK Pandian as the opposition narrates.
VK Pandian who joined CMO as the Private Secretary to Naveen in 2011, had become super powerful in the state’s administration as the head of a new initiative named 5T installed exclusively for him. He was given the rank of a cabinet minister without even a department. However, with the hue & cry from the opposition alleging that Mr. Pandian was managing the government & the party, he (Pandian) had to quit Indian Administrative Services and become a formal member of Biju Janata Dal.
In the video message VKP has repeated that being inspired by the vision & values of Naveen Patnaik, he had come to politics. He had joined Odisha cadre following his family & he further said that he had been working hard for the people of Odisha. It can be mentioned that Pandian’s wife Sujata R Karthikeyan an Odisha cadre IAS Officer hails from Kendrapara district of Odisha.
Pandian as a politician lived short!
