24 students from the World Skill Center Bhubaneswar have successfully completed six months paid internship at various industrial establishments of Singapore and returned home. The World Skill Center (WSC) hosted a warm welcome for the young achievers upon their return.

The international interns returned on Tuesday via a direct flight from Singapore to Bhubaneswar. They were welcomed at Bhubaneswar airport and taken to the WSC in special buses. The students were greeted in a traditional manner.

These meritorious students of the skill development programme from the first batch of World Skill Center have returned to their homeland after pursuing a six-month internship abroad. The young Skilled in Odisha turks were excited to be back. Odisha Skill Development Authority Chairperson and CEO World Skill Center Alka Misra congratulated the students on the occasion.

A special programme was held at World Skill Center to mark the occasion. These WSC stars shared their experience of working in various international companies and the great learning time at Singapore. The students expressed their gratitude to CM Naveen Patnaik and the World Skill Center for giving them this unique opportunity.

Students of different programmes of the World Skill Center listened to their seniors about their experience of working in Singapore which was a source of great inspiration for them.

“I had never even dreamt of going to Singapore and working in an international organisation. The World Skill Center gave me this opportunity. I am proud to have been skilled here. The things I learnt during my internship period abroad will immensely help me in my future prospects”, said Manas Kumar Das.

“During my school days, I had dreamt of becoming a Project Engineer. World Skill Center has helped me to fulfil the dream. I have gained a boost in confidence for I have now worked at an industrial and technical education behemoth like Singapore. Now, I’m confident that I can work anywhere in the world”, said Bhagyashree Rout, a student of WSC.

Among others, Skill Development & Technical Education Department Addl Secy Pinaki Patnaik, WSC Principal Sangaran Gopal, Dy Principal Dr Subhanga Kishore Das, Director (Administration) Kerwin Hing were present in the welcome ceremony.

As part of the Skilled In Odisha vision of the Govt of Odisha, the Skill Development & Technical Education Department has established the World Skill Center at Mancheswar Industrial Estate Bhubaneswar. The WSC offers various global standard advanced skill development courses to the youth of Odisha.

As per an MoU between of Govt of Odisha signed with the Singapore Govt, 40 students from World Skill Center are being sent as part of a student exchange programme to Singapore every year. Likewise, 24 selected candidates from WSC are being facilitated a six-month paid internship program at different organizations of Singapore.
