On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day on Thursday, the Smart City based Asian Institute of Public Health (AIPH) University has conducted a free physiotherapy camp at its campus.
The physiotherapy camp was organized by the department of Physiotherapy under the School of Allied Health Sciences.
Inaugurating the free camp, AIPHU Vice Chancellor Padma Shri Prof Dr Aditya Prasad Dash said Physiotherapy is going to play a crucial role in the realm of public health.
“The contemporary lifestyle is responsible for osteoarthritis. Along with the elderly, inflammation and pain at the joints (knee, hip etc) have also been observed in the younger age population. In order to control these degenerative conditions, regular physiotherapy and exercises are very essential. The camp is organized today to generate awareness among the general public,” said Dr Dash.
The camp witnessed a huge response. Hundreds of locals have visited the camp to avail the free physio services provided at the camp by the faculty and and students. Apart from the live physio services, the visitors were also given physiotherapy tips for home exercises.
The World Physiotherapy Day is celebrated every year on Sept 8 since 1996. This year the theme of the day has been ‘Role of Physiotherapists in Management of Osteoartritis’.
The modern day physiotherapy treatment is proving essential for age-related knee joint pain, spinal cord problems, paralysis, shoulder/neck pain, musculo-skeletal problems, post-operation conditions and neurological problems. It was seen that in such disease conditions, physiotherapy has demonstrated good results.
There has been demand for both physiotherapy services and the curriculum.
AIPHU’s school of Allied Sciences offers courses like Master of Physiotherapy (MPT), Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), Integrated Master of Physiotherapy (IMPT), Diploma & PhD in Physiotherapy etc. Students taking admission in these courses have the opportunity of getting trained by experienced and highly qualified faculty to carve a successful career in the field.
