Former Supreme Court Judge and Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC) Oversight Authority Justice Shri Anang Kumar Patnaik is on a 3 day visit to Sundargarh district.

On the first day of his visit on Wednesday, Justice Shri Patnaik took stock of the progress in various public welfare projects currently underway in the district with financial support from OMBADC and attended a review meeting afterwards.

He visited various Anganwadi project sites in Lephripara, Tangarpali and Sundargarh Sadar blocks. These Anganwadi centres are being built as per the modern BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) Model for nurturing the tiny tots and imparting pre-primary education to them. On the sidelines of the visit, Justice Shri Patnaik inaugurated the new Anganwadi centre at Chakramal in Tangarapali block of the district. He also visited the Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya at Talsankra and held discussion with the principal and teachers.

Fish farming is being promoted in the district by the district administration to boost the livelihood of farmers. Many farmers have taken up modern Biofloc fish farming. Similarly, the members of the Women Self Help Group (WSHG) are also engaged in fish farming using the village ponds. Justice Shri Patnaik discussed the success of the programme with the beneficiaries during his visit to Lephripara block.

Jutsice Shri AK Patnaik then visited the central nursery which is developed in the Sundargarh forest range at Ujjalpur in Tangarpali block. He appreciated the efforts put in by the administration to protect the environment and create a green belt by initiating such projects.

The state government has various schemes and programmes in place to strengthen the health infrastructure of Sundargarh district. The district headquarters hospital and various community as well as primary health centres are being modernised with financial assistance from the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) and OMBADC funds. Justice Shri Patnaik inspected the various facilities extended for the treatment of patients at the district headquarters hospital.

During his visit to the Advanced Rehabilitation Centre (ARC) Justice Shri Patnaik enquired about the treatment and services rendered to the differently abled individuals. He was pleased to know that the inmates are provided advanced Robotic Physiotherapy free of cost while artificial limb transplantation facility is provided to PwDs and other beneficiaries belonging to the financially weaker section without charge. Thereafter, he visited the Integrated Physiotherapy Unit & Therapeutic Centre (IPU-TC) located in the campus of the Sundargarh Medical College and Hospital.

On the culmination of the first day field visit of the district, Justice Shri Patnaik participated in a review meeting at Sadbhavna Bhavan. He took briefing from the concerned departmental officials about the progress of the various developmental works underway in the district with financial assistance from OMBADC. He also directed them to complete the various projects within deadline.

During the meeting, Sundargarh District Collector Nikhil Pavan Kumar appraised Justice Shri Patnaik about the various developmental works being carried about in the district with financial aid from OMBADC. He appreciated the district administration for the success of various OMBADC projects in Sundargarh district.

The CEO of OMBADC Shri G Rajesh, Officials on Special Duty (OSDs) Shaikh Naimuddin and Shri Dwipayan Patnaik, General Manager OMBADC (Administration) Shri Sudhakar Burgi, General Manager (Operation) Shri Jayant Kumar Dash, Consultant Shri Partha Mohanty and Team Leader Shri Ambuj Prasad accompanied Justice Shri AK Patnaik during the visit.

The Project Director of Sundargarh District Rural Development Authority Shri Bhairab Singh Patel, Chief District Medical Officer Dr. Saroj Kumar Mishra, CEO DMF Smt Rita Dang and other senior officials of the district were present during the meeting.
