Shailabala Women’s Autonomous College, Cuttack organized a national seminar on ‘Mental Health Concerns in Today’s Youth’ under Mo College Abhijan. The Inaugural address was given by Principal Prof Dr Surekha Sundari Swain. Dr Bikash Kumar Das, HoD Psychology and CLC Member Mo College, introduced the seminar topic.

Mo College Chairperson Shri Akash Dasnayak joined the event as Chief Guest and inaugurated a Botanical Garden as well as the library in Education Department. He also laid foundation stone of the Badminton Court and Basketball Courts in the college campus. 

Shri Akash Dasnayak addressed the students by stating that Mo College is an attempt to unite Alumni to their Alma mater. One can contribute intellectually and the alumni can definitely participate in the vision of Mo College. He also appealed the current students of the institution to be a part of rebuilding this higher education citadel. “The mind of each one of you is very powerful, and it should be utilised positively to fulfil your life goals,” added Shri Dasnayak.

Key speaker Dr Jashobanta Mahapatra, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Clinical Psychology, Institute of Mental Health SCB Medical College and Hospital Cuttack said, “Like every other health aspect, mental health is very important and it should be properly taken care of. We must be understanding and encouraging to those undergoing mental health issues. A helping hand and positive mind in treating a person with mental issues definitely goes a long way.”

The seminar bulletin of Botany department ‘Batabrukhya’ and College magazine ‘Madhushree’ was also released on the occasion. The program ended on a high note with a vibrant cultural and yoga program. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Indu Rekha Mohapatra.
