Sixteen new roads constructed in Lahunipara & Koira blocks have expanded the network of Road Connectivity in the mining affected areas of Sundargarh district.  Out of the same, 12 roads fall under Lahunipara and 4 in Koira block. The roads were dedicated to the public at a special occasion on Thursday.

MLA Bonai Laxman Munda inaugurated the projects at a special event in Pratappur village at Lahunipara block in presence of the Collector Sundargarh Nikhil Pavan Kalyan. These 16 roads will connect various villages and Gram Panchayats in the two blocks with the national highway, local markets and urban centres, enhancing the life and livelihood of general people.

The newly constructed roads will benefit over 12,000 people of 28 villages across Lahunipara and Koira blocks. A total of 24 Kms of road network under the projects launched today shall improve connectivity across the mining affected, hilly and remote patches. Thus the projects supported by District Mineral Foundation, DMF Sundargarh will enable education, health services, market linkage and other basic facilities to the students, youth, farmers, general public and other stakeholders.

Road Connectivity in mining affected areas

In Lahunipara block, the new roads connect Sadhubahal to Digi, Kardahudi to Pratappur via Rengalbeda, Thiaberna to Kudapada, SAIL Road to Deodevpur via Ghatitala, Sasa to Rugudi, Talbahali to Bhuyan Sahi, Rangamatia to Rangamatia, Sananuagaon to Girijatola, Sananuagaon to Bhuyan Sahi, Sanjal to Taldihi, Budhabhuin to Budhabhuin, Ladapani to Ladapani. Similalry, the new roads in Koira block include National Highway 215 to Tukutola, National Highway 215 to Rengalbeda slum, Soyamba to Chardhipa, and Badabalijor to School Sahi area.

Among others, Sub Collector Bonai  Pradeep Dang, Project Administrator Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Lalat Kumar Luha, BDO Lahunipara Dhanai Charan Tudu along with other senior officials of District Administration and District Mineral Foundation were present on the occasion.
