A high level team lead by Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra and 5T Secretary VK Pandian visited Sundargarh to review status of various ongoing developmental works in the district. The team reviewed the health infra in place and the administration’s preparedness amid a possible 3rd COVID wave.

The team included Special Secretary to CM cum Secretary Sports R. Vineel Krishna and Mission Director NHM Odisha Shalini Pandit. The team visited 33/11 KV electric substation at Kundukela, Bhedabahal Coal Corridor, BaLA model Anganwadi centre at Bhabanipur and High School Transformation Under 5T at Kinjirma Govt High School to review the ongoing work. They also reviewed the status of pediatric health infrastructure and preparedness for a possible third wave of COVID at NTPC COVID Health Centre.

All Govt. High Schools in Sundargarh will get a facelift as part of the state government’s High School Transformation Under 5T initiative. 50 Govt High Schools are to be transformed in the first phase by October 2021. The high level team took stock of the Kinjirma Govt High School. Chief Secretary and 5T Secretary sat in the Smart Class and interacted with a teacher in the studio and students from another school through virtual medium. The team also reviewed modern science lab, playground and other infrastructure along with the high school transformation work.

In the end, the team held a review meeting at NTPC Medical College & Hospital where the Collector Nikhil Pavan Kalyan presented a report on various flagship welfare projects running across the district. Apart from health, the collector also informed about progress in other sectors like women & child development, nutrition, livelihoods, connectivity, drinking water, agriculture and irrigation etc.

After a review meeting, the Chief Secretary briefed the press. “We reviewed the health facilities in Sundargarh amid a possible third COVID wave. We especially looked at the preparation of NTPC COVID Health Centre regarding Pediatric Ward, ICU, Ventilator etc. Similarly, we also saw 33KV electric substation, coal corridor, BaLA model Anganwadi centre and High School Transformation work”, informed the Chief Secretary to the media.

Along with the Collector Sundargarh, PD DRDA Bhairab Singh Patel, CDMO Dr. Saroj Kumar Mishra, SP Sundargarh Sagarika Nath were present in the review meeting.
