The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday forecast intense rainfall in Odisha triggered by another low-pressure, which is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal in the next 72 hours.

“A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around August 13. Under its influence, there will be intense rainfall in the south coastal, interior south and north and some districts in the north coastal districts which will continue for five days till August 13.,” the Met office said.

Most parts of Odisha have been receiving heavy rainfall since last 36 hours under the influence of a low-pressure over the north-west Bay of Bengal off north Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal coast.

Yellow warning has been issued for Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Bargarh,  Kalahandi, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul,  Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal,  Malkangiri,  Koraput and Nabarangpur.
