Owing to the closure of schools in the entire state due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the state govt has decided to cut short the school curriculum this session. The prolonged lockdown has forced the schools to shut for indefinite periods. Earlier, National boards like Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of Indian Education (ICSE) have already given their confirmation on reducing their respective courses by 25%-30% for the current academic session.

School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das said, “We are waiting for confirmation from the Chief Minister. An expert committee has been set up that will decide on which chapters will be removed from the existing course. In addition to that, the reduction in course will depend on the time left to complete the academic session, once the schools reopen.”

State Council of Education Research (SCERT) will decide on the course for class I to VIII while the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) will take a call on the curriculum of class IX to XII in the state. The state govt. had already declared to shut educational institutions till August 31.
