Ajay Parida, Director, Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) on Friday said that Odisha will conduct 20,000 COVID-19 tests per day starting from August. Parida also added that efforts will be made to ensure that every individual with symptoms undergoes the test.

“We will try to conduct 8,000 RT-PCR while the rest will be antigen tests. Presently, all districts have more than 3000 antigen kits,” he said.  More kits will be provided to them if need arises. Parida further said that the COVID-19 scenario in the state is stable and the number of cases has gone down drastically in some districts. He also said that the administration is hopeful that Odisha will see better results in the testing in August

The COVID-19 tally in Odisha has risen to 31877 with a total of 514573 samples tested. 177 people have lost their lives to coronavirus.
