The whole world is sustaining the effect of COVID-19 in the current scenario. The government of India is continuously urging people to stay at home in order to avoid the worst. The Government of Odisha is also backing every possible effort to fight against this pandemic. However, if anyone suffers from any health disorder he has to go to the hospital.

There is a high possibility of contacting the virus in the chaos of a medical facility. To contain this possibility, the foundation “SMILE FOREVER” has come forward. The foundation has garnered a group of reputed doctors from 14 major departments and come up with an idea to launch A Tele- Medicine Health Care service.

The founder of the “SMILE FOREVER FOUNDATION” Mr. Santosh Kumar Biswal has briefed the motto of the initiative and conveyed gratitude to the people for widely using the service. He pepped up the people to spread the service so that more people can take the advantage from it.

The list of doctors covers all major health departments from a medicine specialist, surgeon, gynaecologist, cardiologist, paediatric, ENT and other core departments. Every doctor volunteering is available over phone call for a specific time in the morning and evening to communicate with patients. Here is the list of concerned doctors, specialisation and timing of consultation.

Through this Telemedicine service and with the adding up of voluntary support from more than 25 doctors, the foundation has successfully served more than 250 patients so far.  This initiative was also appreciated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha through Social media platforms. He also appreciated the doctors for volunteering for such a great cause which was much needed during this lockdown period.

The people can directly consult the doctors over a phone call. The volunteer doctors of the foundation are giving advice over line and also providing medicine with prescription. In case of emergency, the foundation is also providing health check-up at home and rendering home delivery of medicines by the foundation members. The foundation has crossed a count of more than 130 asthmatic patients who needed saturation of Oxygen.

Besides, the foundation is also educating the people through door to door awareness campaigns in slums to avoid coronavirus. The foundation is spurring people to stay at home and not to visit hospital unless there is an emergency. They are urging to consult the doctors of the Foundation via phone, what’s app or video call about their health queries or problems.

The feedback from the people is very encouraging as they are getting a good service from the foundation. One patient named Saswati has shared her experience as she was benefitted by the Tele Medicine Health Care Services. “I had an accident last month and I was suffering from a frozen shoulder, last week I had consulted with doctor Manish Sharma through this foundation over this initiative. He prescribed medicine on line and the foundation member made the medicine available at my doorstep.” She said

There is a famous saying by John Bunyan that- “You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.’’ Carrying the quotation forward, a foundation of Sundargarh named “SMILE FOREVER” is continuing their priceless service to the indigent category of the Rourkela community since 2015.
