Jayadev bhawan libraryJayadev Bhavan Library (JBL) in the State capital, often the only readily available source of comprehensive information needed by students of the capital the city for academic, personal and job-related purposes, is now accommodating more students and offering online studies.

Minister Information and Public Relations, Raghunandan Das, Secretary Information and Public Relations Sanjay Kumar Singh and Director Information and Public Relations Krupasindhu Mishra have been instrumental in bringing in the required changes to improve it further.

The library, considered a storehouse of knowledge, played a very important role in improving the knowledge of the students.

Countless students, who love reading but cannot afford to buy costly books, come to the library and become members to avail the encyclopedias and dictionaries which are costly.

JBL has been playing an important role imparting knowledge to students, provide them the opportunity to find jobs, explore research, experience new ideas, get lost in wonderful literature in a noiseless and tranquil atmosphere.

With more than 20 thousand books suited to the interests and aptitude of students of different age group, numerous magazines, periodicals, newspapers it quenches the students’ thirst for reading. This library is the center of the intellectual pursuits of 150 students who devote their whole day from 8 am to 8 pm in studying.

During these 43 years, this library has been able to produce a plethora of talents in various fields, who have brought laurels and acclaim for both themselves and the State.

Realizing that JBL is needed to evolve according to the changing needs of the time, Information & Public Relations Department Minister Raghunandan Das ordered it’s shifting to the spacious upper floor of Geet Govind Sadan. The shifting was carried out on October 14, 2019.

Secretary Information and Public Relations Sanjay Kumar Singh also visited the library and instructed officials to get all magazines for competitive examinations, newspapers, and periodicals in adequate numbers.

He instructed for a bar-coded system of entry, installation of close circuit TV cameras, pure drinking water facility, a cafeteria, e-cataloging of books, digitization, facilitate online study using internet in the well-equipped e-Library, connecting all e-libraries of the State so that students could access all books, to prepare a directory of ex-students of the library who have become the pride of Jayadev Bhavan Library.

Director, Krupasindhu Mishra too has been taking a personal interest to improve the library. The library was set up on August 15, 1976.
