5t meetingNew Year is all set to be more pleasant for all the officers and employees, who are deserving promotion as things are getting expedited in this regard primarily because of the 5T initiative of the Odisha Government.

In a major transformation, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has given clear instruction to all the Departments and Directorates for ensuring completion of the process of promotion of officers and employees by December 31 every year and making it effective from January 1.

While 5T, the transformation initiative taken up by the State Government, has been ensuring timely delivery of service to the people, it has set an an important target for all departments, directorates, and district administrations as well as field establishments at all levels of the State Government regarding ensuring the promotion of all the deserving cases.

Follow up action has already been started to make all promotions that are due yet pending. Those will be taken up systematically on or before December 31, so that promotions are given effect from January 1, a communiqué from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.
While ensuring promotion in time, the state government is also trying to bring in changes in the system of the promotion process.

Emphasis is given to technology up-gradation, system change in promotion processes and fixing responsibility with the Heads of the Departments for ensuring transformation. If the present level of technology is falling short, technological upgradation is needed to be taken up and Departments are to work out accordingly, said the Chief Minister while warning that the concerned HoD would be accountable for inordinate delay in the process.

Patnaik further said that no deserving employee should be made to run around for his own promotion, and transformation is needed to be brought up in this regard. Timely promotion would bring in more enthusiasm to ensure teamwork, which is the hallmark of 5T, he added.
