Continuing its leadership in new subscriber addition in Odisha, Reliance Jio has once again topped with net addition of 3.03 lakh subscribers in April this year, revealed the recently released telecom subscriber data by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

As per the TRAI subscriber data for April 2019, net subscriber addition by Reliance Jio in the state stood at 3.03 lakh, followed by a distant second BSNL with net addition of 12,100 subscribers during the above period. All other service providers lost lakhs of subscribers in this month, bringing down the overall mobile subscriber base in the state by 3.47 lakh to 3.23 crore, adds the report.

While Jio continued to be the most preferred mobile service provider in Odisha adding highest number of new subscribers in April, Vodafone Idea lost the maximum 4.31 lakh subscribers followed by Bharti Airtel which lost 1.26 lakh subscribers and Tata Teleservices which lost 1.05 lakh subscribers in Odisha in April 2019, says the report.

Reliance Jio has been continuously adding highest number of subscribers in Odisha every month, fuelled by fast expansion of its 4G network coverage in the hitherto unconnected hinterlands and the hugely popular affordable JioPhone.

Nationally also, Jio maintained its leadership position in new subscriber addition in April 2019, adding over 80 lakh mobile subscribers in the month when most of the other service providers witnessed decline in subscriber base.

As per the TRAI data, overall, India’s broadband subscriber base rose to 56.7 crore in April 2019, swelling 0.78% over the previous month. Reliance Jio notched the highest broadband subscriber base of 31.48 crore, followed by a distant second Airtel (11.14 crore), Vodafone Idea (10.96 crore) and BSNL (2.22 crore).

According to the financial report released by TRAI on the sector for the quarter ending March 2019, Reliance Jio continued to be the market leader in gross revenue with the highest 42.4% market share in Odisha. As per the report, Reliance Jio achieved gross revenue of Rs. 403.19 crore in the Jan-March 2019 quarter, followed by Bharti Airtel with Rs. 357.44 crore, Vodafone Idea Rs.121.9 crore, BSNL Rs.60.05 crore and Tata Teleservices Rs.9.22 crore.
